Nutrition & Healthy Eating

Eating a balanced diet sounds so easy to do, but many people struggle with what this means. Just what is a balanced diet? Is it the same for everyone? Eating too much of one of the three (carbohydrates, fats, protein) is not good, as this will mean that you will not be eating enough of at least one of the others. You can learn about nutrition by reading my lose 100 pounds section.

For example, eating too many carbohydrates can lead to diabetes, and if you are eating too many processed foods (which is mostly carbohydrates, and unhealthy fats) then you are likely not eating enough protein.

Poor Nutrition Choices

You don't have to be overweight to make poor nutritional choices. Even if your weight is considered to be 'normal', you can still have health problems that are a direct result of making poor nutritional choices.

Eating a balanced diet is essential for everyone, no matter how much weight you want to lose, or even if you are trying to gain weight

This is especially true for young people that eat a poor diet, but are physically active enough to not be gaining excess weight. As these young people age, and as they become less active, this is when the health problems will begin to show, in the form of gaining weight.

Nutrition & Your Age

Once you reach your 30s and then on into your 40s, it becomes more important for you to eat a balanced diet, one that is rich in nutrients; balanced between complex carbohydrates, healthy fats and a good supply of protein.

Children & young adults need to make sure that they are being given the right encouragement to enable them to make the right nutritional choices as they get older.

Nutrition & Personal Training

A personal trainer can help you make the right choices when buying and preparing your food. A competent personal trainer can go to the supermarket with you and help you buy the right foods, and tell you which foods to avoid.

Making sure that we always make the right choices is perhaps the most challenging aspect of healthy living. As a personal trainer, I can help you make the right nutritional choices, and educate you about proper nutrition

Never let a nutritional label baffle you ever again, let me help you with your nutrition. As part of my weight loss journey, I lost 100 pounds, by understanding how nutrition affects the health of the human body.

Nutrition Basics

Having a basic understanding of the foods that you eat is an important step when it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle. Every time you buy food, you need to make sure that you know what it contains

Reading nutritional labels should be a regular routine every time you buy food, you really need to make sure you understand what you are eating.

Carbohydrates

Approximately 40% of your diet should be made up of carbohydrates, but you have to make sure that you are eating whole foods, and avoiding added sugars.

It is the added sugar that is likely to be the cause of weight gain, and why so many people struggle to lose weight.

Far too many foods have added sugar, and it can sometimes be difficult to identify the sugar, that is why it is important to read the nutritional information on the foods that you buy.

Proteins

Your diet should consist of approximately 30% protein, which can come from a variety of different foods, both from animal sources and from plant based foods.

Protein is essential for a healthy body, as it help to rebuild your muscles after an intense workout. A lot of people will not be eating anywhere near the 30% protein that your diet should consist of.

Fats

Your diet should always consist of approximately 30% from fats; but it is vital that you are choosing healthy fats, and avoiding the unhealthy fats.

In most cases, it is animal fats that are poor choices, and plant based fats that are the ones that are good for you.

Dairy foods are the exception, as the calcium that dairy contains is essential to your health.

Personal Training & Nutrition

As a personal trainer, I am qualified to teach nutrition, making sure that you have a good understanding of the foods that you should be eating, and more importantly, the foods that you should be avoiding.

With so many diet foods, low-fat foods, and all sorts of diets, it can be difficult to sort through what is good, and what is bad.

As a personal trainer, having lost more than 100 pounds myself, I know exactly what will work, and what is a waste of money. Let me help you learn about nutrition.
